I must apologize
For all that I have done,
And left undone.
I used to think
It was not my fault,
It was just nature and nurture.
They deserved the blame.
They made me this way.
Who was I to stand in their way?
That was before I understood
There is only the mind,
Nothing else matters.
Nature and nurture
May have shaped me,
But my choices created the mold.

I love this, especially the last two stanzas and the message within. The picture is cool too.
Thank you for appreciating this poem and photo. The last two stanzas are powerful. I’m glad you liked it.
Absolutely!
yes, we are responsible for our choices, no one more. Belíssimo Poeta!!!
You can only be a victim for so long….
It’s always nice to think that the other is those who provoke our darkness. A silly justification, that sooner or later falls apart. And here comes the high price. Your poem speaks loud and deeply about our mistakes. Thanks poet, poignant and beautiful.
i do love the last stanza. like a perfect bow on a precious gift.
Thank you very much. I do try to leave each poem with a little bow.
Sweet;)
I love the self-reflection and growth in this poem, and the recognition that we all must individually take responsibility for the choices we make. my favorite lines are:
“I used to think
It was not my fault,
It was just nature and nurture.”
and then..
“Nature and nurture
May have shaped me,
But my choices created the mold.”
it shows your change and the last few lines are a defining moment and a strong way of pulling all the pieces together.
Thank you for your insightful comment. Self-reflection and growth are major themes in the last few poems of this entire collection. Wrapping everything up in this fashion seemed to make sense, and be a good way to close things out. Thank you again.
Lovely work! Best wishes to you. 🙂
Thank you very much. I’m glad you like my work.
