thinking of three lost influences
known only to me
on a cold autumn night
i look at the stars above me
the wind whispers
upon the last leaves
and i know
i am only me

Thank you for your comment. Sunday is a lovely day.
This is beautiful! And ‘the wind whispers on the last leaves’ I love those lines! 🙂
I’m glad you liked those lines. They are my favorites too. I was planning on writing something else the night that I wrote this one, but my mind had something else in store…. Thank you for your comment.
Lovely. I’m so glad you’ve had those influences. They may be lost but they still live inside you.
They do live inside me. Like so many other lost memories, they surface from time to time. The question is always: What to do with them when they do surface? I’m still working on that one…. Thank you for your comment.
‘I am only me’ that is an interesting line, only being you is a great gift, only being you flings new perspectives at me and the rest of your readers willy-nilly and that is always good.
My juvenile side has always been a bit willy-nilly, while my mature side wants everything to have a place. I usually strive to keep the two in balance, but every once in awhile I have to let one or the other have its day. Like you said, its a good thing. As long as it doesn’t get me into too much trouble that is. Thank you for your comment.
Lovely poem Cody!
I’m glad you like it. It’s actually one of the final pieces of something new I’ve been working on. The spirit of the poem at least. The final version is actually quite different. Thank you for your comment.
