i am only me*

thinking of lost innocence
known only to time

on a cold autumn night
i stare at the stars above

the wind whispers
upon the last leaves

and i know
i am only me

    • I do draw a lot of insight from nature. I suppose I relate to nature more than other things in this world. It makes me happy to know that you thought that my poem was beautiful. Thank you.

  1. I am only me is so true. However, I am only me also hides the truth that each of us is so much. I am only me implies that each of us is just as large as the universe instead of only as small as an individual.

    • I’ve always looked at it this way: we are the Universe and the Universe is us. I am only me, you are only you, the Universe is only the Universe, and we are all one in the same. In other words, we’re all individual pieces of the whole, but each of us is whole in and of ourselves….

  2. Hi! I know Christy B. I thought your poem was kind of sad. Thank you for the visit to my site today. I’m glad you liked my post “How to Get Loyal Visitors…”.
    Nice to meet you.

    • Thank you for returning the favor, and coming to my blog. I do appreciate your patronage. If you want sad, I could tell you that 99.9% of all species that have ever existed on the Earth are now extinct. If you want happy, I could tell you that humans aren’t one of those species. As a matter of fact, humans are now seven billion strong and some of them like exploring all of facets of existence.

  3. Hi,
Thanks for checking out my About page today.
    1. I see Animal Farm under Goodreads. One of my favorite books, sad though. I mean to read Catch 22 but no time.
    2. I am in love with your question mark avatar very cool.
    Thanks again for today’s visit.

    • Thank you for coming to my site too. I just finished Animal Farm recently and I enjoyed it. The moment I saw the question mark bench near a MAX station by the Oregonian’s publishing building, I knew I had to take a picture. It definitely came in handy later.

    • I’m glad you like these words. They came to me at an interesting time. That, however, is a story for another day…
